Terms of use

Last updated October 3, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Notaro about your use of the Notaro app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms, the Community guidelines and the Privacy notice. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

Notaro waving

1. Who can use Notaro

You must be at least 13 years old to use Notaro. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Notaro with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms for you.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for your account and everything done with it. Give accurate information when you sign up, keep your sign-in details private, and tell us if you think someone else has accessed your account.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and the content in it.

3. Your content

You own the notes, files, recordings and messages you create or upload (“your content”). To run the Service, you give Notaro a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, display and transmit your content, only as needed to provide the Service to you and to the people you share it with. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people already received from you.

You’re responsible for your content and promise you have the right to upload and share it.

4. Community content and zero tolerance

When you post in a community, you must follow the Community guidelines. Notaro does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behaviour. We may remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that breaks these terms or the Community guidelines, without notice.

Content posted by other users is their responsibility, not Notaro’s. You can report content and block users at any time, and we review reports within 24 hours.

5. AI features

The AI Coach, quiz generation and smart transcription use a third-party AI service. They only send your content to it after you allow it, and you can turn this off in Settings.

AI answers can be wrong or incomplete, even when they cite your sources. Check important information against the original material. AI features are study aids and not professional, medical, legal or financial advice. You’re responsible for using them in line with your school’s academic integrity rules.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break any law, or help anyone else break one
  • Upload viruses or malicious code, or try to disrupt or overload the Service
  • Access other people’s accounts or data without permission
  • Scrape, copy or reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it
  • Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited advertising
  • Use the Service to cheat on exams or graded work

7. Notaro Pro subscriptions

Notaro Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks extra features. It is offered as a monthly or a yearly plan, at the price shown in the app before you buy. Prices may vary by country and may change; if the price of your plan goes up, you’ll be told in advance as the store’s rules require.

Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play and are also covered by their terms:

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase
  • Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends
  • Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your Notaro account doesn’t cancel it
  • If you cancel, Notaro Pro stays active until the end of the period you already paid for
  • If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; Notaro can’t issue refunds for store purchases

8. Notaro’s rights

The Service, including its design, software, logos and the Notaro name, belongs to Notaro. These terms don’t give you any right to use them except to use the Service as intended.

We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering the Service. If we make a change that affects you significantly, we’ll try to let you know in advance.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Notaro and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the Community guidelines, or if we’re required to by law.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, Notaro makes no warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that content, including AI answers, will be accurate. Keep your own copies of anything important.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Notaro is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, grades or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

12. App Store

If you downloaded Notaro from Apple’s App Store: these terms are between you and Notaro, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of its purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Notaro after that means you accept the new terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without affecting any rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.

15. Contact
